Nambu Blog: Nambu to be Re-Released (so to speak)

  • Carsten Pötter · 3 months ago
I'd love to see Flickr as an image sharing option. Would be awesome, no Twitter password required there like TwitPic.
  • gol10dr · 3 months ago
Would be nice if the OSX desktop version could support laconica. Seems to still crash and would love to kick my multiple clients for Twitter and my Laconi.ca instances. Thanks for the hard work and I look forward to the beta..if invited ;-)
  • mcamou · 3 months ago
+1 for Laconi.ca and Facebook support
  • christefano · 3 months ago
Private beta? Please sign me up.
  • alechosterman · 3 months ago
Sounds good. Any word on whether the groups function will work with the new version?
  • facupuig · 3 months ago
2 "small" requests, facebook and sync with iphone? Any news?
    Good job !
  • Eric Woodward · 3 months ago
We have group and search sync working with a new iPhone version, but not sure when the desktop will catch up. We are still working through that. We will also change it to support Twitter's new API for saved searches, but the priority has been the OS X version.
  • march · 3 months ago
great news! would you please spill more details on the iphone version, too?

my favourite picture sharing option is still pic.im [which didn't accept photos last night BTW]. as an option i would like to upload pictures to zooomr.com.

    best regards.
  • chrisash · 3 months ago
    I second that!
  • Mike Tassinari · 3 months ago
Would love to be included in the 2.0 beta if possible.

I've really enjoyed the product and would like to contribute to the process.

    Regards,
    mike

I'd like to be involved in the private beta. Is there a signup list somewhere?
  • Eric Woodward · 3 months ago
We will have a form to collect email addresses for the beta release out next week.
  • Mason Taylor · 3 months ago
Sweetness! Do the first people to comment here automatically receive download codes too? :)

I'd love to be part of the beta testing! The only reason I don't use nambu right now is because it crashes so much.
  • Eric Woodward · 3 months ago
Stability in the new version is greatly improved.
  • Daniel Nowak · 3 months ago
Well my vote for an image service is yfrog. I can't wait to get my hands on the new version of Nambu. I cringe to think I will have to switch to one of those other clients when I upgrade to Snow Leopard this weekend.
  • Michael B. · 3 months ago
I'm in! Put my name down!
  • ak · 3 months ago
    love nambu~
  • ak · 3 months ago
where do we sign up for private beta~~? can't wait~~
  • playerx · 3 months ago
Well then Snow Leopard is going to break my Nambu this Friday when I upgrade.

This is kind of poor and another reason to open source the client.

Way to keep your OSX client #1 with the users!

Anyone know of another good Free native client without ads?
  • Justin Ritchie · 3 months ago
would love to be in on the private beta, missing nambu so much now that I upgraded to snow leopard
  • twistermc · 3 months ago
Can't wait for the new betas. :)
  • Jill · 3 months ago
Looking forward to the new release!
  • paulidin · 3 months ago
I'm excited to hear about this as I was considering making the upgrade to Snow Leopard in the next week! I hope that the Data Detectors work better in the new version, and facebook integratoin would be appreciated but I know that's already on your radar. I would also be thrilled to see "in reply to" links in nambu without having to go to the twitter.com pages. As for image sharing, I'm happy with what you've got but I've also come to like posterous.

Regardless of what you take on for 2.0beta, I'm excited for it!
  • spicoli · 3 months ago
Sweet. I have noticed it is a little wonky on Snow Leopard. Can't wait for the update. Thanks and keep up the good work.
  • scascot · 3 months ago
I love how people don't read. Seriously? Did none of you get past the fact that there will be a private beta to read that the signup is forthcoming? That this is not the place to signup for the private beta? No, you read the words, "private beta" and "signup", and fell over yourself to get signed up. Sheesh.

In any event, I'd like to place my vote for yfrog.

We now return you to the mad rush of people who can't be bothered to read.
  • sdharwadker · 3 months ago
For image sharing, please add YFrog! TwitPic is no good.
  • viniciuslacerda · 3 months ago
I`d like to try the private beta. Could you guys sing me up?
I can share the new informations in Brazil.
  • pbdoetmee · 3 months ago
Suggestion for good image service: http://www.mobypicture.com/. Works smooth and fine.
  • dominik · 3 months ago
Any plans to support the new location feature? Maybe with FireEagle or some kind of Skyhook Wireless positioning?
  • Eric Woodward · 3 months ago
This is not really on the radar at this point.
  • dominik · 3 months ago
    That's too bad.
  • Sacha QS · 3 months ago
    1) I'm soooo glad you're updating Nambu!!! :D
Buggy, crashing and everything but still the best client around! (btw, IMO, it's the best not because of its features (though tr.im shortening is a must ;) but for its design. no eye candy, clear to read...)

    Sign me up!!! :P

    2) mobypicture :)

    3) Go Nambu, GO!!
  • gdodig · 3 months ago
    Great news. :)
Amongst all the other image services might I suggest http://radar.net as well.
    Regards,
    G.
  • chrisWhite · 3 months ago
Sweet, I can't wait to see the update, Nambu is so close to being exactly what I want but the stability issues hold it back. I'll keep a close watch on the blog for a sign up but I definitely want to be in the beta!
  • ivangrebe · 3 months ago
Thank you, nambu team! Your client is a benediction for me (=
I like tr.im and pic.im too and my preference for another sharing option can be yfrog (cause images bigger). I see it is a integration between pic.im and flickr but a problem of the client is don't seeing properly the updates about images transfer, and "people" changing too. I have ever more followers then I 've on the browser...
In any case, just continue to use them, because you are the best.
    Greetings.
  • jodrell · 3 months ago
I'm more than willing to test the V2 beta for you guys - some sort of multiple computer sync option would be great (including iPhone), the option to upload images to my Flickr account would be fantastic (I've been banging that drum for months) and having Nambu recognize all web links so I don't have to try some half-arsed copy/paste/delete combo would just bring joy to my life :-)
  • nibaq · 3 months ago
    Cant wait!

One thing I would like to see if you plan to add image sharing is able to see image links just like how hovering over a link gives you the full URL. Ubertwitter for Blackberry pulls the image from twitpic and others thus not needing to click to load up a web browser.

And sign me up for the beta too!
  • RonPriest · 3 months ago
I'll be upgrading to Snow Leopard Friday. Hope it's not long before I can use nambu again. Feel free to sign me up for the new beta.
  • christyyyjoy · 3 months ago
how do we get in on the private beta? i love nambu, can't tweet without it!
  • Aad 't Hart · 3 months ago
I was sorry to hear that the current version doesn't work properly on Snow Leopard. Nambu is my favorite (only) Twitter client on the Mac and I don't look forward to change... Many complain about crashes, but I've no such problems.. It's reliable and sweet..

Please keep us updated on the progress on version 2.0... but I'm pretty sure many of us are waiting..

For feature request I would suggest:
    - Synchronization between groups on the Mac and iPhone client
    - Image sharing... I've moved this to Posterous.. so may be you can support that..

    Suc6 with Version 2.0
  • Adam · 3 months ago
I'd also love to know about the Beta as soon as possible.

Will 2.0 also fix the issue in which many links in Nambu are simply unclickable? It's my single biggest frustration with the otherwise-wonderful app.
  • rdsh · 3 months ago
I'll look forward to a new version of Nambu. I had given up on it a bit, thinking it was going to disappear and started using Twitteriffic instead. However Twitteriffic doesn't really float my boat and I'd be glad to use Nambu again. (I'll be upgrading to Snow Leopard this weekend).
  • ylluminate · 3 months ago
Very exciting guys. I am languishing here with shoddy performance..... Definitely ready for an ALPHA NOW! :)
  • knalli · 3 months ago
Because of getting Snow Leopard as Amazon will deliver them I am very interested in a beta for the OS X upgrade.
  • berniemolloy · 3 months ago
Moby Pic is the photo site I have had the best luck with. There are so many that they should be competing to get into Nambu. As with Everyone here, I would love to get in on the private Beta. I'll be upgrading to snow leopard the morning of the 28th.
  • Name · 3 months ago
No SL availability at launch = sad.

    Time to find another client.

Thanks for the time thus far. It was grand.
  • chrisWhite · 3 months ago
Keep in mind that Apple shipped Snow Leopard early and caught a lot of developers unprepared, I don't think it's fair to hold that against them.
  • Nombre · 3 months ago
Anyone who was caught off guard by the Snow Leopard launch clearly wasn't reading what Apple said beforehand properly. Every ad on its site said "shipping on all new computers in September" which meant release date on Aug. 28 since it was the Friday before the beginning of September.
  • ydikoi · 3 months ago
hey nambu ! If can be, would love to be in the beta list :)
  • Evowebnet · 3 months ago
"The current version of Nambu, version 1.2.1, does not work properly on Snow Leopard,..." = a definitive answer to when I will update to Snow Leopard...

"but we plan to start the private beta shortly after its official release. " = Soon ! (please, include me in the beta!)
  • cceeyore · 3 months ago
just tried to post a pic with nambu and wasn't able to ... i prefer nambu over another program, but i don't want to switch when i want to send a pic! PLEASE INCLUDE ME IN THE BETA TEST! i love nambu!
  • Gonzague Dambricourt · 3 months ago
Oh yes please guys Snow Leo ! i switched to it on my two computers and cant use the fantastic nambu anymore
  • ekke · 3 months ago
just upgraded to snow leopard and nambu doesn't work :-(((
  • Ayoub · 3 months ago
Please sign me up. I'm on Snow Leopard now, and I miss Nambu!
  • jujuqui · 3 months ago
Awesome news!! After the tr.im episode I was and hopeless for a Nambu update, but now I can't wait! I'll definetly want to sign up for the beta. Nambu is the best Twitter app. Regards! :)
  • Kyle · 3 months ago
I'd love to help with the private beta. I rely heavily on Nambu for my Twitter feeds at work to keep in contact with my readers. I was sad to see it not launch when I installed Snow Leopard today.
  • Stacey · 3 months ago
I'd love to be part of the private beta test as well! I just downloaded and started using Nambu this week and absolutely love it. However, I upgraded to Snow Leopard and, of course, can't use it. Can't wait for 2.0 to be released!!!
  • berniemolloy · 3 months ago
In Snow Leopard there is a big white box where my Nambu used to be. Can I be included in the public beta if I promise to only use twitter on the web, not on another twitter app?
  • moldor · 3 months ago
Upgraded the two Macs to Snow Leopard this morning, and Nambu is indeed broken. On one machine I just get a blank box, on the other a message that nambu.db cannot be opened.

    HELP !!!
  • chris2x · 3 months ago
Yes Nambu is broken under Snow Leopard. I would love to be in the private beta if you had a working version.
  • Dan Rodney · 3 months ago
Nambu is working on Snow Leopard for me. I did a clean install of Snow Leopard, then installed the latest downloaded version of Nambu. The setup sheets were blurry and hard to read, but because I had already used Nambu I knew it wanted my twitter username/password. After that it's worked as it did under Leopard. Maybe you should try reinstalling your Nambu if it's not working under Snow Leopard. Also try trashing preferences if that doesn't work.
  • mjsbugz · 3 months ago
I have Snow Leopard and Nambu has officially goon away! Help! I will beta test!
  • Pablo Defendini · 3 months ago
I also ended up doing a clean install of Snow Leopard, and restoring from backup (everything except apps). After trashing my ~/User/Library/Application Settings/Nambu folder, and installing a fresh version of Nambu, it works, albeit without my groups (which I'd have to recreate). Performance, speedwise, is fantastic, Nambu is much less laggy than under Leopard. However, it unexpectedly quits at the drop of a hat, and constantly.

Even so, I'll gladly suffer through unexpected quits while you guys get your act together w/r/t Snow Leopard. Nambu is by far and away my favourite and most useful Twitter app, and I can't wait till you post the form for signing up for the beta. I'll be there in a heartbeat.
  • falk · 3 months ago
Pablos tipp somehow worked to get nambu back working - still crashing a lot but at least its working. I just can´t stand any of the other clients (mostly because of lack of multi account support or shitty AIR requirements that nobody in their right mind would want to install).

Thanks nambu team for everything - please make a public beta of 2.0 and then take your time to do it right after that!
  • Bruno Casarini · 3 months ago
2.0 Beta testing? Count me in!! I'm using Tweetie right now, but I want Nambu back!!!
  • djbrandao · 3 months ago
    Great news. Grats!
  • djbrandao · 3 months ago
Great news. Grats. I'll check by next week.
  • richmeyer · 3 months ago
I dont think any other client is as unresponsive as Nambu. Your support is a joke and you continue to lag behind much better Twitter clients
